About Precision Polling

Precision Polling is SurveyMonkey company.

Precision Polling was founded to make phone surveys as easy to set up and run as a SurveyMonkey web survey. We want to enable people in fields as diverse as politics and government; non-profits and unions; hospitals and pharmaceuticals; newspapers, radio and TV; and corporate marketing to use the telephone to gather data - but we absolutely do no telemarketing, ever.

Founding Team

Precision Polling was founded by Gaurav Oberoi and Chuck Groom, two Internet startup veterans and longtime friends. After Precsion Polling was acquired by SurveyMonkey in 2010, Oberio and Groom have continued to work on survey technologies and analysis tools so anyone can easily, quickly, and affordably obtain the data they need to make critical decisions.

Gaurav Oberoi, Head of Product, Seattle

Gaurav wears many hats: marketer, product manager, sales guy, and engineer. His past has prepared him well with a wide range of experiences that include: building and selling a consumer internet company (BillMonk), working as product manager at a consumer startup for industry veteran Mitch Kapor (at Xmarks), managing a team of engineers at a mobile payments company (Obopay), and working as an engineer on a core backend team at Amazon (Search and Browse).

Gaurav also co-founded Seattle Tech Startups, one of the largest startup technology communities in the state of Washington. He graduated from Rice University (TX) with a degree in Computer Science.

Chuck Groom, Head of Engineering, Seattle

Chuck isn't just responsible for the great technology behind Precision Polling, he is also responsible for designing and driving key product features with an eye towards customer need and clean interface design. Chuck's career includes: building and selling a consumer Internet company (BillMonk), developing entirely new product lines at a consumer internet startup (Xmarks), managing a team of engineers at a mobile payments company (Obopay), working as an engineer at Amazon where he presented future-reaching ideas to Jeff Bezos (Item Metadata team), and building software for mobile phones and embedded devices (Blue Mug).

Chuck graduated from Swarthmore College (PA) with a degree in Computer Science. Along with Gaurav, he co-founded Seattle Tech Startups.
